Children Are Invited To Participate In Our Sacrament Preparation Program

As part of their faith journey, children are invited to participate in our Sacrament Preparation Program, which helps them grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ and the Church. Our program prepares children to receive the Sacraments of Reconciliation, Eucharist, and Confirmation, ensuring they understand their significance and deepen their love for God.

Sacrament of Reconciliation (First Confession)

This sacrament allows children to experience God’s boundless mercy and learn the importance of forgiveness. Sessions include:

  • Understanding sin and God’s forgiveness
  • Learning the Act of Contrition and how to examine their conscience
  • Practicing how to make a good confession
  • Reflecting on God’s love and grace in their lives

At the end of the preparation, children will participate in their First Reconciliation Service, where they will experience the joy of being reconciled with God and the Church.

Sacrament of the Eucharist (First Holy Communion)

Preparation sessions focus on:

  • The meaning of the Eucharist and the Real Presence of Jesus
  • The structure of the Mass and the importance of the Liturgy of the Word and Liturgy of the Eucharist
  • How to receive Holy Communion reverently
  • The significance of Jesus’ sacrifice and His invitation to the banquet of life

Sacrament of Confirmation

Confirmation completes the Sacraments of Initiation, strengthening children with the gifts of the Holy Spirit to live as true disciples of Christ. Preparation sessions will cover:

  • Understanding the role of the Holy Spirit in their lives
  • The meaning and significance of Confirmation
  • Learning about the fruits and gifts of the Holy Spirit
  • The responsibilities of being a fully initiated Catholic

During the Confirmation Mass, children will be anointed with Sacred Chrism by the archbishop or a delegated priest, receiving the fullness of the Holy Spirit and becoming strengthened in their Catholic faith.

Parental Involvement and Parish Support

Parents are the first teachers of the faith, and their involvement is crucial throughout the preparation process. We encourage families to participate in:

  • Parent meetings and workshops
  • Family prayer and discussion on the sacraments
  • Attending Mass regularly as a family

Our parish community is committed to supporting children and families in this spiritual journey, ensuring that every child experiences the love and grace of God through these sacraments.
